GIORGIO MORANDI

CIMA is thrilled to announce its new season, dedicated to acclaimed Italian modern master Giorgio Morandi (1890–1964). The installation features some 40 paintings, etchings, and drawings and focuses on the artist’s rarely seen works from the 1930s, the decade when Morandi reached full artistic maturity. Most of the paintings have not been seen in the United States for nearly half a century. In conjunction with the show, CIMA will present select work by four contemporary artists— Tacita Dean, Joel Meyerowitz, Matthias Schaller, and Wolfgang Laib—relating to Morandi’s practice thematically or conceptually. Throughout the year we will be exploring the lasting influence that Morandi has had for artists in a variety of different disciplines.
Beginning October 9th, the exhibition will be open for guided visits on Fridays and Saturdays at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.
