CENERE (1916) With live sound track by Rossella Spinosa

Rossella Spinosa, an Italian pianist and composer, specialized in creating live sound tracks to silent movies, will present in world premiere her new composition for solo piano on Cenere (Ash), 1916.

This year marks the one hundred anniversary of the film, directed and interpreted by Febo Mari with the special participation of the actress Eleonora Duse, and, for the occasion, the ICI has invited Rossella to compose a sound track and to play it live at the screening the movie.

Rossella has, so far, composed the soundtracks for over 70 films of the silent cinema, writing for ensemble, orchestra and. of course. her instrument, the piano; she is – without a doubt – the italian most accredited musician for the silent cinema. Invited at universities and institutions, Italian and foreign, Rossella teaches master classes on composition and the history of music applied to images, and regularly receives commissions from theaters, orchestras and ensembles for the creation of new soundtracks for the world of the silent movie.
