Elena Ferrante Global Event - The Lying Life of Adults

The Lying Life of Adults an international celebration of Elena Ferrante’s new novel, hosted by the global network of Italian Cultural Institutes and Europa Editions.

A global event for readers with the participation of: Elena Ferrante’s “star translator” Ann Goldstein, authors Nicola Lagioia (Italy, Strega Prize) and Laura Pugno, and special guests t.b.a. for a celebration of Elena Ferrante’s global readership and a conversation about her latest New York Times-bestselling novel, The Lying Life of Adults.
Conversation moderated by Europa’s Editor in Chief, Michael Reynolds.

At this event we celebrate not only Elena Ferrante and her new novel but also her international readership and the global work of the Italian Institutes in promoting the cultural production of Italy. Elena Ferrante readers number in the millions worldwide. Her Neapolitan novels have been made into an HBO original series; and her new novel, The Lying Life of Adults, has been optioned by Netflix.

 

Ann Goldstein has translated into English all of Elena Ferrante’s books, including the New York Times bestseller, The Story of the Lost Child, which was shortlisted for the MAN Booker International Prize. She has been honored with a Guggenheim Fellowship and is the recipient of the PEN Renato Poggioli Translation Award. She lives in New York.

Nicola Lagioia, born in Bari in 1973, is an editor for the Italian publisher Minimum Fax. He is the author of three novels and a collection of short stories. His books have been awarded the Strega Prize, the Premio Volponi, and the Premio Viareggio, among others. He lives in Rome. His English-language debut, Ferocity, was published in 2017 by Europa Editions.

Laura Pugno was born in Rome. She is the author of a collection of short stories, and five novels. She has also published two essay collections,  and collections of poetr.
