- Borinque Gallo, Italian-Puerto Rican contemporary artist and lecturer at the Pratt Institute.

- Eden Ghebresellasie, Italian- Eritrean marketing manager at ESPN.

- Fred Kuwornu, Italian-Ghanaian, director, producer, educator.

Borinquen Gallo

Borinquen Gallo is an Italian-Puerto Rican Bronx-based multi-disciplinary artist and Associate Professor with 15-plus years of experience in the arts and education sectors. Lying at the intersection of art, education, and community engagement, her work delves into themes of of transformation, community development, socio-cultural systems and structures through sculpture and installations made using a range of repurposed materials. Gallo received her BFA in Painting and Sculpture from the Cooper Union for The Advancement of Science and Art, her MFA in Painting from Hunter College. She has received numerous awards. In addition, she has worked on curatorial projects with BAM Fischer, and Pratt Institute. Gallo is currently represented by Malin Gallery and is Adjunct Associate Professor of Art and Design Education at Pratt Institute in New York.


Eden Ghebresellassie was born and raised in Milan, Italy by Eritrean parents. Right after graduating from high school, Eden decided to move to follow her dream of studying at an American University. In 2006 her dream was fulfilled when she graduated from VCU (Virginia Commonwealth University) with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a minor in French. After a short stint working at Rolling Stone magazine Eden decided to continue her education by earning a graduate degree from the FIFA Master in International Laws, Humanities and Management of Sports. Eden most recently worked at ESPN, for almost over a decade, in the Event Marketing group where she has been successfully able to apply her multilingual and multi-media marketer skills. Eden has a proven track record of leadership and team collaboration which has allowed her to flourish as the CFO & board member of Project Tsehigh non-profit. Eden’s background attributes to fundraising, business development and partnership strategy with experience working with social impact organizations, including HelpUSA, Harlem Routes, and the United Nations (UNDP) in addition to grand ESPN events such as the ESPYS and X Games. Eden Ghebresellassie is one of the few African women in the sports marketing world.


Fred Kudjo Kuwornu is an Italian-Ghanaian filmmaker, activist, educator, producer, born and raised in Italy and based in New York. He is best known as the director of critically acclaimed documentaries such as Blaxploitalian, Inside Buffalo and 18 IUS SOLI. His documentaries deal with political and social themes, such as diversity, Afro-Italians and Black diasporic identity in Italy and in the world. Fred Kuwornu holds a Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Bologna, Italy with a focus on sociology and mass communication studies. He work as set assistant on 2007 Spike Lee’s film “Miracle at St’Anna”. In 2020, he was the voice over for the Italian version of the Netflix educational show Bookmarks-Celebrating Black Voices. He has taught at: Colorado College, University of Minnesota, James Madison University courses about filmmaking and Black Italy and He has been invited to speak and lecture in more than 200 US colleges and universities.
Currently He is developing the multimedia project Blaq •IT (the Black Italians Timeline) that includes the platform Black Italia


Laila Petrone Film director, screenwriter, film speaker and educator. Laila Petrone is an Italian/Dominican filmmaker. Raised between Italy and The United States. Laila received a B.A in International Affairs (John Cabot University) and a Master in Communication & Media (University of Florence). Currently, Laila is working on a docu-series titled Mothers and Daughters. This project explores the stories of several Latina mothers and daughters born and/or raised in Italy. Laila’s work ranges in genre but always with a common desire to explore multiculturalism, diversity and inclusion.


Elektra B. Yao, Esq. is the founder and principal attorney at Yao Law Group law firm dedicated to international and domestic artists. Elektra is a very active attorney and is a member of The American Immigration Lawyers Association, Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyer Association, and The New York City Bar Association, where is she is a member of several committees. As a multicultural attorney, with immigrant parents from Italy and Cote D’Ivoire, Elektra is fully fluent in French, Italian, and Spanish. She has lived, studied, and worked internationally in the US, the EU, and Africa.
