Vivere che Rischio – Biografilm Festival

We conclude the movie screenings from the Biografilm Festival, International Celebration of Lives, with Vivere che Rischio by Michela Mellara & Alessandro Rossi (Italia 2019), dedicated to the great researcher and oncologist Cesare Maltoni (1930-2001).

“Let’s bring the world to Bologna! But not for tortellini, for cancer research!” Between narration and interviews, this unusual documentary reconstructs the life of the oncologist from Bologna Cesare Maltoni, founder of the Ramazzini Institute and world-renowned cancer researcher. From insights into industrial carcinogenic substances to the constant commitment to promote the importance of prevention, Vivere, che Rischio – To Live what a Risk traces the career of a brilliant and determined man, who never hesitated to fight for what he believed in, thus saving many lives.

Professor Cesare Maltoni was one of the leading scientists of this century: a pioneer in environmental and industrial carcinogenesis, cancer prevention, chemoprevention, but above all an exceptional man who fought to defend public health and the environment with all of his extraordinary abilities. At the Bentivoglio Castle laboratories he directed long-term carcinogenicity bioassays on around 200 substances present in the occupational and general environmen.
