"ANCIENT DNA and HUMAN HISTORY"
May, 24 at 6pm
Italian Culture Institute 686 Park Avenue, NY
Recent technological advances made it possible for geneticists to recover small DNA fragments from ancient archaeological and palaeontological remains including 50,000 years old Neandertal specimens. Over the past few years, the emerging field of ancient DNA has provided intriguing clues about human evolution, and contributed to shed new light on the history and biology of humans that are now extinct. This event brings together researchers at the forefront of ancient DNA research and population genetics to reconstruct the tangled history of our species.
