Irene Dionisio "Germination" - Screening

Irene Dionisio

The Institute presents:

Irene Dionisio Germination

curated by Ilaria Bernardi

October, 4 from 6PM to 8PM

In this second American stage about her artistic research, Irene Dionisio presents a selection of works based on the theme of "germination" viewed as a generous and generative act of nature, and at the same time as a dramatic spread of a material and moral contagion.

The artist reflects on this theme in the video: "Germ Theory" (2020), produced by Castello di Rivoli, about digital trauma, and the film "Sponde" (2015), produced by a.titolo and Mammut Film, which tells the friendship between two gravediggers on two opposite shores of the Mediterranean.

Irene Dionisio (1986) is a filmmaker and an artist. Her work ranges from installations to sound works, from video-installations to documentaries, to films including The Last Things (2016), Sponde (2015) and The Factory is Full (2011), which have been presented in many international festivals (Venice Festival, Torino Film Festival, Visions du Réel, Taiwan Film Festival, among others).
Her works have been shown in solo or group exhibitions at Magazzino Italian Art, New York; Rivoli Castle, Turin; Pav, Turin; PAC, Milan; OCAT, Shanghai; Palazzo Grassi, Venice; Villa Arson, Nice among others.
In 2020 she received the Bertolucci Award for artistic innovation
