Genealogy of the Baroque. The classic models and the birth of the Baroque - Lecture

EVENT IN ITALIAN  - The Institute hosts two lectures on the topic of Baroque, the first one is entitled: Genealogy of the Baroque. The classic models and the birth of the Baroque. This lecture by Gabriele Romano examines the influence of classical art and Roman architecture on the Baroque and its main interpreters (Bernini, Borromini and Pietro da Cortona), and the use of archaeological discoveries and collections of antiquities as training lab for new artists.

Gabriele Romano is a Greek and Roman art archaeologist and art historian with experience in excavations and topographic research of ancient Rome. He obtained a degree with honors in Literature with an archaeological focus and a PhD in Classical Antiquities at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata". Author of numerous articles in magazines and encyclopaedias of the sector, he is also involved in scientific dissemination through the participation in documentaries of various international television networks.
