The aim of the exhibition is to become a tool for preserving collective memory, paying homage to the courage and struggles of nine journalists: Mauro De Mauro, Mario Francese, Mauro Rostagno, Giuseppe “Pippo” Fava, Cosimo Cristina, Peppino Impastato, Giancarlo Siani, Giovanni Spampinato, Giuseppe Alfano, who were killed while carrying out their work simply for having sided with the truth.

On view @ IIC NY from September 6 to 14, 2024 – Monday through Friday 10AM to 4PM

Franco Nicastro, with a degree in political science, Nicastro was president of the Mandralisca Foundation of Cefalù and of the Order of Journalists of Sicily, of which he is a regional councilor. He writes for Ansa. During the direction of Vittorio Nisticò he trained in the editorial staff of the newspaper “L’Ora” in Palermo, of which he was also deputy director. He was the judicial editor of the Giornale di Sicilia.  He has written various essays and interventions on the mafia, the media and the history of journalism and radio. He wrote “Mafia, 007 and freemasons”, he is co-author and editor of the volumes “De Mauro. The great misdirection”, “Andreotti. The mafia seen up close” and “Era L’Ora”.
