Figura Schroeder Duo

Antonio and Dave first met in 2015 during a Jazz Festival in Italy, and they have played together several times, since. In this occasion they will perform, for the first time, their latest compositions, to be included in the duo CD project that will be recorded in New York City on March 9 and 10 at the Dolan Recording Studio, and will be released by BlueArt Records.

ANTONIO FIGURA

Pianist, Composer, among the major emerging artists in the Italian music scene, virtuoso, eclectic, lyrical and versatile artist, his music combines with great sensitivity the European tradition with the Afro-American music. His amazing musical feeling has allowed him to perform with many and diverse artists from around the world.

In 2014 Antonio was included in the Flavio Caprera’s Italian Jazz Dictionary, published by Feltrinelli.

Antonio has a distinctive personality which can be appreciated in his personal piano style.

His aesthetic world has been influenced by Paul Bley’s, who is perhaps his most obvious reference, Bill Evans and, further back, up to Teddy Wilson, all great masters who he internalized creating his own style.

His musical pages are well laid out, with a great sense of space, and Antonio knows how to exploit the dynamics quality of the piano, honoring the space between the notes. He’s achieved a truly timeless sound that gives the audience’s imagination space to wander.

DAVE SCHROEDER

He has performed and recorded with iconic jazz artists such as Teo Macero, Toots Thielemans, Airto Moreira, Oscar Cartro-Neves, Kenny Werner, Don Friedman, Lee Konitz and Dave Liebman, to name a few.

As Director of Jazz Studies at NYU, Dave Schroeder is continually developing an interactive environment between students, artists/faculty and the jazz community thriving in and around New York City.
