Italian Cultural Institute of New York is proud to celebrate Black History Month 2014 by presenting Afro-Italian director Fred Kuwornu and his documentaries ” Inside Buffalo” about African-Americans veterans in Italy during World War II and “18 IUS SOLI” about Ethnicity, National Identity, and Multiculturalism in Contemporary Italy in the following schedule, all open to the public:

BIOGRAPHY
Fred Kudjo Kuwornu, born and raised in Italy, is an Italian-Ghanaian activist-producer-writer-director. He worked with the production crew of Spike Lee’s Miracle at St. Anna, and he has produced the documentary “Inside Buffalo” discovering the history of the 92nd Infantry Division, the African American segregated combat unit which fought in Italy during WW II. He also directed ” 18 IUS SOLI” a documentary about citizenship and “new Italy”. Fred Kuwornu founded the non-profit organization Diversity Italia promoting the importance of racial and ethnic diversity in Italy and Europe using film and other arts as tools for building a more inclusive society. His next projects are “We the Italians”, a documentary about Italian scientists of excellence, and “’64”, a film about the U.S. Civil Rights movement. info http://www.18-ius-soli.com/
