Carolina Pace, recorder Michele Carreca, archlute
The Early music ensemble “La Selva” was founded by the recorder player Carolina Pace andthe lute player Michele Carreca, back in 2005, to propose mainly Italian early music on
historical instruments. La Selva had soon an international activity, producing various
repertoires, from the simple duo (recorder and lute) to larger ensemble with voice and
instruments. The concerts for Festival Antiqva in Spain, Alte Pinakothek Muenchen, Staedel
Museum Frankfurt am Main, Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum Braunschweig in Germany, Prima
Mostra internacional de Musica Antiga di Curitiba, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de
Janerio in Brazil, Festival de musique andalouse et des musiques anciennes in Algery, the live
concerts for the national broadcast Rai Radio 3, the two cds “Alla Luna” and “Divisons and
Sonatas”, among other activities, have been rewarded with a great success of critics and
public. The ensemble is now working on a new recording of J.S.Bach’s chamber music, that
will be published in 2016.
Carolina Pace, recorder
Born in Rome, Carolina Pace obtained the Soloist Diplom in recorder at the Schola Cantorum
Basiliensis with Kathrin Bopp in 2003. Since then she worked with various ensemble of Early music,
such as Musica Perduta, Simphonie du Marais (Hugo Reyne), Orchestra laVerdi barocca (Ruben Jais),
among others. Carolina Pace founded with Michele Carreca the ensemble La Selva, with whom
produces many concerts, recordings, musical events. She recorded for Brilliant Classics, Classic Voice-Antiqua, Hatje Cantz, Ipsar, Urania Records. She teaches recorder in Rome.
Michele Carreca, arciliuto
Born in Foggia, Michele Carreca graduated in Lute at Conservatorio S.Cecilia in Rome under the
guidance of Andrea Damiani in 2006. He studied also with Hopkinson Smith and had masterclass with
Paul O’Dette. He worked as continuo player various renewed conductors and soloists. As a soloist and
chamber music player, he works mainly with the ensemble La Selva. He recorded for Brilliant
Classics, Classic Voice-Antiqua, Hatje Cantz, Ipsar, Urania Records. His first solo album “Mr
Dowland’s Fortune” for Continuo Records was released in 2014. He teaches lute in the Conservatory
of Trapani, Sicily.
