Round Table
One of the landmark documents of the 20th-century culture of peace is John XXIII’s encyclical Pacem in Terris. Fifty years after the death of Pope John XXIII – one of the major protagonists of the Twentieth century – the Italian Cultural Institute hosts a round-table to deepen, in the light of the current geopolitical setting, the evolution of theory and the practice of international relations, the programs and operational strategies of the Pacem in Terris (issued on April 11, 1963). This encyclical was addressed not only was to Catholic believers, but to “all the men of goodwill.” The panel will explore the meaning of Pacem in Terris and will focus on the negotiations as a means of conflict resolution and the respect of the fundamental human rights.Introduction H.E.
