Exhibition opening and concert.
The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, over the centuries, was able to bring together internationally renowned set and costume designers, whose works form a gigantic iconographic heritage through artistic and highly relevant documents. The exhibition, by way of a collection of valuable costumes, models, and original sketches from the early twentieth century to today, tells the story of the most famous performances of Verdi’s operas, and of the great performers, singers, set designers, and costume designers who kept the legend of Giuseppe Verdi alive. On display selected sketches and costumes and essays by artists such as Luchino Visconti, Franco Zeffirelli, Pierluigi Pizzi, Danilo Donati, Nicola Benois, and others who, with their talent, have visually translated the musical genius of Giuseppe Verdi and the historical contexts, places, and characters that he had so wonderfully brought to life with his sublime and immortal music A video with the most famous arias of Verdi’s repertoire, performed at the Opera House, will add an additional dimension to his work, and pay tribute to this great Master on the event of the bicentennial of his birth.
