European Film Festival
Corpo Celeste
This Festival is an official project of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) as a celebration of the vitality of European cinema. Launched as an annual event in 2009, it instantly became popular for its unique, carefully selected film series, presenting films that have gained acclaim on the festival circuit, yet remain largely unknown to American audiences. This year, for the first time, the Museum of Moving Image will host a selection of titles from the festival, which opens on April 11 2013 at the IFC Center, continues at the Bohemian National Hall, and concludes at the MoMI.Full festival program is available at disappearingact.org.
Italy presents the movie Corpo Celeste, by director Alice Rohrwacher. Corpo Celeste is an assured impressionistic study of a young girl’s coming of age set against the background of a relocation from Italy’s “modern” north to the country’s religious south.
