As part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Italian Cultural Institute of New York is proud to host a special evening dedicated to the participation of the Amerigo Vespucci in the Sail4th 250 Tall Ships Parade, one of the signature events of the national commemoration.

The evening will feature a special message from the Commander of the Amerigo Vespucci, Capt. Nicasio Falica, who will share the significance of this historic voyage and the role of the ship as an ambassador of Italy around the world, alongside Chris O’Brien, President and Vice Chair of the Sail4th initiative and Giosetta Capriati, President of Giosetta Consultants Inc. In this occasion, a model of Amerigo Vespucci will be unveiled.

Widely regarded as the most beautiful ship in the world, the Amerigo Vespucci embodies the finest traditions of Italian seamanship, craftsmanship, and maritime heritage. Its presence in New York Harbor alongside tall ships from around the globe is a powerful symbol of the enduring friendship between Italy and the United States, a relationship that has been shaped by centuries of cultural exchange, migration, and shared democratic values.

As the United States celebrates 250 years of independence, Italy is honored to contribute to this extraordinary international gathering through a vessel that represents not only the excellence of the Italian Navy but also the spirit of a nation whose history has long been intertwined with that of America.
