BOOK of the MONTH | L’Antidoto, by Claudio Cerasa (Silvio Berlusconi publisher)

book month october claudio cerasa l’antidoto orizzontale

As part of the Book of the Month series, Claudio Cerasa, Editor of the newspaper Il Foglio, in conversation with Director Claudio Pagliara, presents his latest book, The Antidote, Silvio Berlusconi publisher

Isn’t it time to rebel? In the public debate of recent years, a perverse narrative has emerged that tends to interpret the present and the future through a rigidly catastrophic lens. Global crises, geopolitical tensions, environmental apocalypses, and a growing sense of Western disillusionment are often presented as signs of unstoppable decline, reducing the complexity of reality to a single, alternative-free story, based more on perceptions than on facts.

In this book, Claudio Cerasa dismantles the dogmas of contemporary pessimism and analyzes the mechanisms that fuel it: from the use of resentment in public debate to media shaming, from distorted readings of globalization to preventive suspicions about artificial intelligence.

The antidote is a call to considered optimism: the only credible defense for Western democracies and the only method capable of distinguishing between the reality of the data and the distortions produced by viral amplification.
