The Italian Cultural Institute of New York is hosting the final evening of the third edition of “Food and Future – Italian Video Art Contest,” during which the 12 finalist short films (4 from each Academy, each approximately 3 minutes long) will be screened. The competing short films were selected by faculty representatives from the Academies of Naples, Bari, and Lecce.
The jury, alongside the Director of the IIC NY, Claudio Pagliara, will include Stefano Prior, co-founder and sole director of Pensiero Mediterraneo, the company behind the initiative; Luigi Capone, co-founder of Pensiero Mediterraneo, Flavia Pankiewicz, journalist and writer (coordination), Antonella Marino, professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari and art critic (artistic direction), Davide Ippolito, reputation expert, editor and producer, Alma Laias, expert in international relations, Kaspar Capparoni, TV, cinema and theatre actor, Angelo Filomeno, artist, Antonio Pio Saracino, architect, designer, artist.
The jury will select the winner of the “Food and Future 2026 Award,” who will receive a plaque and the sum of 500 euros, while the audience in the hall will constitute the “popular jury” and will be able to vote on special ballots to select the video to receive the “Honorable Mention.”
The winner of the Award and the recipient of the Honorable Mention will be announced at the end of the evening. The presentation of the awards (check, plaques, and certificates of participation as a finalist) will take place in Italy in November, at the winning student’s Academy.
“Food and Future” is an initiative of Pensiero Mediterraneo, a company based in Rome, with the aim of promoting the work of young artists from Italian Fine Arts Academies by giving them visibility, including internationally, and engaging them in a creative challenge through reflections on food, particularly on the themes of sustainability, equitable distribution of food resources, dissemination of knowledge of the Mediterranean diet, and the centrality of Italian food.
