Alessandro Benetton has been Chairman of Edizione SpA since 2022, one of the largest European holding companies, mainly operating in transport and digital infrastructure, food & beverage, travel retail, and manufacturing sectors, employing over 100,000 people. In 2023 he became Vice Chairman of Mundys, a subsidiary of Edizione, the leader in integrated and sustainable infrastructure and mobility services, operating in 24 countries, and Honorary Chairman of Avolta Group, one of the most important global companies specializing in travel retail and food & beverage.
A pioneer in the Italian private equity market, in 1992 he founded 21 Invest, a European investment company. As President of the Cortina 2021 Foundation, he led the organization of the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2021.
He graduated cum laude from Boston University, holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and was appointed Knight of the Order of Merit for Labour. After a stint as an analyst at the London offices of Goldman Sachs, he chaired the Benetton Formula 1 Racing Team, which won two World Drivers’ Championships and one World Constructors’ Championship under his leadership.
Global entrepreneur and made-in-Italy ambassador, he is also a sport enthusiast and an art lover. Innovation, sustainability, and interaction with the next generations are the drivers of all his projects. In 2018, he received the Kennedy Prize for placing sustainable development at the center of 21 Invest and in December 2023 he was recognized with the Global Advocate of the Year Award from UNCA, the United Nations Correspondents Association in New York.
