1983-2013 Teatro delle Albe’s poetics throughout a thirty-year journey

The Teatro delle Albe from Ravenna, founded in 1983 by Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari, Luigi Dadina and Marcella Nonni, is one of the most important theater companies in the Italian and international scene, in particular with regard to the fusion between research and tradition, focus on actor’s work and dramaturgy, emphasis on musical and vocal experimentation.
The quality of the company is underlined by the numerous awards won: fourteen Ubu Awards (the “Oscars ” of the Italian theater), the Eleonora Duse Prize 2013 to Ermanna Montanari, and other international awards, such as the awards won in Sarajevo, Teheran, Tunis.

On the occasion of the performance Rumore di acque (Noise in the Waters) by Marco Martinelli at First Floor Theatre at La MaMa E.T.C. (January 30th to February 16th in 2014), an open talk will be held with the Teatro delle Albe at the Italian Cultural Institute. Marco Martinelli, Ermanna Montanari and Alessandro Renda will present the thirty-year long history of the company. Heresy of Happiness in New York will also be introduced: a workshop addressed ​​to the students of Scuola d’Italia Guglielmo Marconi, La Guardia High School and Corpus Christi School in collaboration with IACE, which will result in a public performance debuting on February 11th 2014.
