ANCIENT TREASURES FROM ITALY
An Exhibition of Antiquities
recovered by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in collaboration with
the Comando Carabinieri per la Tutela del Patrimonio Culturale
The Consulate General of Italy in New York and the Italian Cultural Institute are pleased to present the exhibition Ancient Treasures from Italy, which includes 40 artifacts dating back to the Etruscan, Roman and Greek periods and to the Italic civilizations.
The pieces on display represent a selection from the 200 antiquities of the archeological assets that were returned on December 15, 2021 by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office to the Consulate General of Italy, as part of a wider operation by Unites States investigators in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Protection Command of the Carabinieri that recovered previously stolen artworks transferred, illegally in the United States.
