On the occasion of OZMO’s exhibition at the IIC-NY, a roundtable to explore the intersection of indie art like graffiti, street art, and DIY with established cultural institutions and brand collaborations. The conversation will enrich our understanding of the evolving relationship between underground art and mainstream cultural institutions.

Gionata Gesi aka Ozmo’s artistic journey began in the early 90s in Tuscany, with graffiti drawing inspiration from movies like “Wild Style” and the few zines available in the underground scenes. Around 2000, his style evolved, marking the beginning of his collaboration with name brands, thus bridging the gap between underground art and broader recognition. Since then, Ozmo’s work has expanded to museum exhibitions and public art collaborations, including a permanent installation at the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome, a major exhibition at Museo del 900 in Milan in 2012, and a recent installation at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York. His work has been recognized by the Italian Enciclopedia Treccani:
