Unix Gallery is pleased to present Marcello Lo Giudice’s first major exhibition in the United States on view at Unix New York, 532 West 24th Street. As an accomplished and well-renowned artist in Europe, he is considered one of the most innovative artists on the new frontier of European Art Informal, a European equivalent to abstract expressionism. Lo Giudice’s paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows, including the Venice Biennial (2011, 2009) and appeared in international auctions at Sotheby’s and Christie’s. His multifaceted projects are a meditation on the alliance between cosmic energies and human beings; focusing on the intimacy of nature, human dignity and rejection of war and barbary. The internationally known art critic Pierre Restany, who has also written about Yves Klein and coined the term “Nouveau réalisme”, defined Lo Giudice as exceptional “telluric” painter. Combining his knowledge of the Earth’s metamorphoses with a profound affection for organic, geological substance of matter, a variety of meticulously crafted paintings and sculptures are exhibited.
