MEDARDO ROSSO

Medardo Rosso at the Center for Italian Modern Art (October 17, 2014 – June 27, 2015)

Medardo Rosso, Ecce Puer in Rosso’s studio on the Boulevard des Batignolles in Paris, 1906. Private Collection.

The Center for Italian Modern Art (CIMA) launches its second season October 17, 2014, with a major installation of sculpture, drawing, and experimental photography by acclaimed modernist Medardo Rosso. On view through June 27, 2015, “Medardo Rosso” reveals the exceptional range of an artist known chiefly for his three-dimensional work. The presentation, anchored by major loans from the Museo Medardo Rosso in Italy, marks the U.S. debut for the majority of the works, and is the first time that a comprehensive group of drawings by Rosso will be on public display. In CIMA’s tradition of juxtaposing modern and contemporary art, the Rosso installation is complemented by the presentation of two works by the American pioneer of abstraction Cy Twombly.

The Center for Italian Modern Art, a non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting the study of Italian twentieth-century art, opened in February 2014 with an inaugural exhibition on the Italian Futurist Fortunato Depero (February 21 – June 28, 2014).

CIMA is open on Fridays and Saturdays for guided visits at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm. Located in a beautiful loft in Soho, CIMA welcomes its visitors for a unique and intimate experience with exceptional works of art. Book your visit now at www.italianmodernart.org.
