Opening Concert

The exhibition will present Italian string instruments coming from four different cities, and made from the 17th to the 20th century. In particular, the only surviving violin made by Giovanni Pietro Caspani in 1657 will be shown. The instruments, property of the luthier and violin dealer Christophe Landon, will be played in an opening event by the Italian violinist Emanuele De Biase.The exhibition will be opened on March 31st at 6pm with a concert in which various ensembles will aim at highlighting the different sonorities that these amazing instruments can create. The Italian violinist Emanuele De Biase will play solo to appreciate the purity of sound of these very precious instruments. He will be joined by violist Alexander Tasopoulos to form a string duo. A string quartet made of the aforementioned musicians and violinist Julia Meynert and cellist John Mark Rozendaal accompany soprano Aurelia Schoplick in a performance of Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater. Emanuele De Biase will also be joined by pianist Nimrod Reitman for some violin and piano repertoire. The musicians will play music by J. S. Bach, J. M. Leclaire, Handel-Halvorsen, A. Vivaldi and F. Kreisler.
