The starting point of the film were a number of interviews with Maria Lai, shot in the years 2004-2005. Often indulging to an intimate mood, the artist tells the story of her life, from her first attempts to make art to her latest evolution, when she came up with the idea of her famous “cards” to explain everybody what art is. The film unravels as a biography. The intensity and depth of her stories led us to the idea of a structure where some essential keywords title a series of short narrations of about 2-3 minutes each: Silence, The Greatest Proof of Love, Thirsting for Freedom, A Male Hand, Cocktails, A Life Choice, Being an Artist, The Oil Museum, etc.
