THE EVENT IS IN ITALIAN
«In recent years New York has once again exceeded 8 million inhabitants; in Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island new ethnic communities have sprung up which have brought new impetus and wealth to the economic, cultural and social life of what continues to be the global metropolis par excellence. Right here in 2001 the terrorists had struck, in a sort of unconscious attack, as well as on the symbols of US economic and political power, also on that tradition of tolerance and acceptance, of optimism and projection towards the future, which despite all its contradictions remains the main wealth of that land that millions of emigrants have called and continue to call simply America. »
In this book, Oliviero Bergamini recounts, with agility and rigor, the history of the United States from its origins to the present day. A history of the United States which, starting from origins, pays particular attention to the events of recent years, from the dramatic events of 11 September to the latests presidencies, up to the epochal challenges that characterize that of Joe Biden.
