Al is a sea explorer who uses photography to tell the stories of life in the oceans.
He led the first expeditions in the Mediterranean in search of whales (1998), sharks (1999), and sperm whales (2004).
He is the only Italian to have published a photographic book with National Geographic and to have given a lecture on the sea at The Explorers Club in New York, home to some of the world’s foremost explorers.
He is the author of podcasts and books, five of them written with Piero Angela.
