A steamy retelling of the classic tale, Casanova’s three lovers rescue him from a Venice jail where he was imprisoned in 1755 for immorality. They save Casanova’s life, and in the process, awaken to their own power and strength as women. The film meshes dance and drama to a Puccini-inspired cello concerto. The result is a dialogue-free, yet sumptuous feast for the sense. The film was filmed, cast, and edited in small villages of the Lazio region.

Director:  As a painter and punk rock musician, Jed Parker segued into directing and editing music videos in the NYC underground art scene. He went on to edit numerous award-winning PBS documentaries about artists like Grammy-winning “Lou Reed: Rock and Roll Heart,” “Jeff Bridges: The Dude Abides” and “Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens.”  While born in Utica, N.Y., Parker found his home in Bellegra, Italy.

Composer:  Johan de Meij is a sought-after conductor and composer with a massive catalogue and following. Giacomo Puccini is one of his music gods, and he was puzzled why Puccini never wrote an opera about Giacomo Casanova since the two have much in common besides their first names. De Meij corrected that by writing a Puccini-inspired “Casanova” for cello. The film score also includes a De Meij arrangement of Puccini’s “Angelo del Cielo”, from his opera “Suor Angelica.”
