SYNOPSIS
Efisio Mulas is an elderly shepherd who lives in a small village on the southern coast of Sardinia, surrounded by pristine land overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. When a powerful real estate group decides to build a large resort along the coast, Efisio refuses to sell his property, standing against a project that promises jobs and economic development but threatens to transform the landscape forever.
Inspired by a true story, La vita va così explores, with warmth and humor, the conflict between economic development and environmental preservation, between the promises of progress and a deep sense of belonging to one’s land. A profoundly Sardinian story that raises a universal question: what price are we willing to pay in the name of development?
THE CONCEPT
Hidden Gems of Italy is a film festival featuring three films set in some of Italy’s lesser-known landscapes, with the aim of encouraging a more conscious way of discovering these places—one that combines appreciation with preservation. Alongside La vita va così, the festival features Le città di pianura (The Last One for the Road – September 9) and Le otto montagne (The Eight Mountains – September 29).
Three films, three different landscapes, three stories that invite audiences to discover another Italy, far from the most traveled routes, while promoting a thoughtful, respectful, and high-quality approach to tourism.
