Premiered in Venice as part of the events held on the occasion of the 81st Mostra Internazionale dell’Arte Cinematografica, the documentary film The Patron-Il Mecenate, directed by Massimiliano Finazzer Flory, tells the story of the first patron of the modernity: Galeazzo Arconati.
Without him we would not have a history of great beauty.
We would not have the Leonardo da Vinci we can admire at the Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
A documentary film where, in 40 minutes, we can relive the myths, the stories of Diana and Hercules, of labyrinths and satyrs traveling with Phaeton’s chariot and the death of Laocoon, some of the statues staged at Villa Arconati.
Through the fiction genre as well, the docufilm travels into the past by accompanying the journey history of the largest Roman statue found in northern Italy the “Pompey the Great” from the first half of the first century A.D., whose restoration filmed by the cameras reveals surprising stories of our tradition.
A documentary film where we cross centuries of history to get lost and find ourselves with the oldest museum oldest in Milan: the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. This is the story about Galeazzo Arconati, about his Villa between mysteries and surprises, between myths and masterpieces.
Arconati marks the turning point in art history by importing the myth to Milan, in fact, of his legacy that would change the fate of our culture. Owner of twelve Codices by Leonardo including the Codex Atlanticus, which Arconati donated to the Ambrosiana in 1637 to that cousin of his protagonist forever of our identity: the Cardinal Federico Borromeo. He was the one to inaugurate the first ultimate public library, where the work of Leonardo is, namely the Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
With the voices and participation of the greatest international experts on Leonardo da Vinci, such as prof. Pietro Marani, Marco Maria Navoni, Prefect of the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, and mythology experts such as writer Matteo Nucci and Prof. Silvia Romani.
