Matera Imagined is a round table discussion in conjunction with the Matera Imagined/Matera Immaginata exhibition, currently on view at the ICI and closing December 18, 2018. The program features one of the photographers whose work is on display at the exhibition, along with scholars in different fields whose work pictures Matera’s unique landscape and history. The discussion is focused on the relationship between photography and site, considering questions such as: how photo images shape images of landscapes, how those images influence the course of modernity, how myth and history coalesce or diverge through photography, and how Matera and the Italian landscape highlight these relationships.
