Neri Marcorè

The multifaceted Italian artist Neri Marcorè (actor, dubber, imitator, TV presenter and singer) makes his New York debut with an evening dedicated to his region, the Marche. In a conversation with director Giorgio Van Straten, Marcorè will recall his entire career, from his first impersonations, to his acting performances, until his more recent successes as a singer. He will conclude with a short performance, following a discussion about the “Risorgi Marche” music festival and other projects aimed at bringing back life in the communities devastated by the 2016 earthquake.
Event in Italian, organized in collaboration with MIA – Marchigiani in America – and endorsed by the Marche Region.

Neri Marcorè

Neri Marcorè (pronounced Mark-oReh) was born in Porto Sant’Elpidio, a small town in the Marche region (central Italy), in 1966. While studying Modern Languages in Bologna he enrolled in a summer impersonator-comedian contest televised by the state channel RAI, and from there on his career took off beginning with small parts in TV commercials, animated series voice-overs and feature films. He has appeared in more than 50 films and television shows since 1994. Especially notable are his collaborations with the television host/producer Serena Dandini and the director Pupi Avati. For his role in Pupi Avati’s 2003 movie “Incantato” he won the “Nastro d’argento” for best actor in a leading role and was nominated for the prestigious “David di Donatello”. In 2017, Neri Marcorè created the project “Risorgi Marche”, a music festival with 13 concerts held on the hills and mountains of the Marche counties affected by the 2016 earthquake. The festival, whose aim is to promote the rebirth of those communities, was repeated in 2018 with 16 concerts and close to 200 thousand participants.

Fabrizio Renzi, director of research and innovation for IBM Italia, will join Neri Marcorè in the discussion about the relaunch of the areas hit by the earthquake. An engineer “marchigiano” from Civitanova Marche, Renzi is involved in various philanthropic projects to support the rebirth of the villages in the hinterland of Marche.
