Indicating “distretto”

The Distretto del Contemporaneo aims to recognize the peculiar characteristics of the Flaminio/Foro Italico/Farnesina urban sector, to point out the importance of an extraordinary environmental and cultural heritage and to promote its enhancement. In this area of Rome, rich in avenues, tree-lined spaces, parks and gardens, there is in fact a substantial nucleus of important architectural works built on the two banks of the Tiber from the first half of the 20th century to the present day.

This conference is intended to deepen and promote awareness of the Contemporary District as a starting point for a program of actions capable of promoting a large urban hub to be preserved and enhanced with interventions of various kinds: from urban redevelopment to the installation of new works of art, from the creation of new infrastructure for mobility to the arrangement and care of open spaces for public use, and the creation of a different and closer relationship with the river.
