The prow of a sailing boat sails in the gulf of Marghera Oil Port (Venice Lagoon), among the Italian Matte’s Port. Three orphan girls, leave for the Americas, for the missed dream, for the desire to ‘do’.Marrying the night Ep. V, traces the umbilical cord between Italian Landscape, yearning for freedom, the countryside, the journey and the American future.
The 20th century is over, the world becomes a fractal: a sail, interwoven with millions of love postcards, memories of emigrants, work contracts is set on fire in front of the Statue of Liberty. A flag of democracy, of values sculpted by Auguste Bartholdi and inspired by Camillo Pacetti’s La Giustizia Nuova at Milan Cathedral. A prow again slices through the waters, suddenly a sail is set alight, the Renaissance shatters and begins again.
The eternal return of charity, of freedom, of the punctiform nomadism of bodies. New alliances, new languages, for a filmic architecture that knows how to vibrate. Sposare la notte Ep. I II III IV was produced by the Venice Biennale, and sees the audience become the director, penetrating marginal areas and giving new life to abandoned palaces and churches, collecting abandoned Murano glass. Today, the sail swells and NYC once again becomes a lucid dream, in the ruins of a time that was. In the perspective friendship that intimately links Italy and the United States, in the eternal conflicts of the word: burning to be reborn, sculpting to generate new ‘air’. And after breathing and burning the sails of Marrying the Night they will continue their hegira in the waters. Ever-flowing waters, lapping Tunis, Mazara, Venice, Palermo and back to the United States in 2025
