Emmy-nominated, award winning, husband and wife, Italian American filmmakers Marylou & Jerome Bongiorno return to their Italian roots with these short fiction films, during this year of Italian Roots Tourism.
OUR RETURN TO ITALY
(25 min., 2023, in English with Italian subtitles)
A short fictional film about an Italian American patriarch who wants to uproot his multi-generational family winemaking business to Italy but hides the truth about his motives. A longer version will be filmed soon in the Veneto Region, where Marylou’s parents are from.
LA STORIA D’AMORE SICILIANA DI CHIARA
(20 min., 2024, in Italian with English subtitles)
Chiara, a young Sicilian screenwriter, imagines a new love story. Filmed in area of Castellammare del Golfo, where Jerome’s parents are from.
