Pride and Memory – The Italian Immigration to the Americas

Exhibition

On view until August 28, 2023

Monday through Friday 10AM to 4PM

The exhibition has a double focus: how the Americas have changed Italians and how Italians have changed the Americas. Never before published documents will be on view thanks to the “Museo di Napoli – Collezione Bonelli” and “Città di Lendinara”.

The event takes place in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian-American associations, the main centers of study on Italian emigration in the Americas.

The unique and rare documents from the Museum of Naples – Bonelli Collection, are a testimony of the multi-faceted stories and economic-social implications of the migratory phenomenon that occurred in Italy starting from the mid-nineteenth century: posters, travel tickets, bank remittances, postcards, photographs and objects related to daily life. Thanks to the involvement of Rai Fiction which has joined the initiative, the visitor will be ideally accompanied by the contributions recorded by the actors of the soap “Un posto al sole”, the most watched Rai production in the world. In each section of the exhibition there will be a QR CODE, which will give the possibility through one’s own devices to immerse oneself in the historical period of reference thanks to the stories of the actors Patrizio Rispo, Miriam Candurro, Riccardo Polizzy Carbonelli and Marina Tagliaferri.
